Town of Nackawic

Policing

Town Council Representative Mayor Robert Connors

R.C.M.P.
95 Otis Drive
Nackawic, NB

In 1996, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police began providing full time policing services to the Town of Nackawic. As a result, a modern and fully equipped community policing facility was built next to the Town Hall.

Currently, Nackawic RCMP employs a compliment of eight officers: two Corporals - Corporal Rick Turnbull and Corporal Keenan Lord, and six full time Constables. Four of the members handle detachment investigations and four handle highway/traffic policing.

Although the Nackawic RCMP members handle policing services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, they do much more than simply respond to complaints. The Nackawic RCMP members are coaches for community sports teams, members on Town committees, referees for Minor Hockey, active in the schools and with the students, etc.

The Nackawic RCMP believe in and practice community policing. Community policing employs the belief that the police cannot be efficient in providing service to the community unless they listen to the community's needs, demands, and expectations and involve the community in trying to obtain a solution to the problem. Policing services are far more efficient and effective with the aid, support and involvement of the community.
